FUTUR FESTIVAL MÉXICO
Rules and Terms of the 2026 International Digital Art Open Call

1. Purpose
FUTUR Festival Mexico invites artists and collectives from around the world to submit an audiovisual piece, video or animation that will become part of the Festival's visual identity, exploring the relationship between art, culture and electronic music.

2. Organizer and evaluation
The open call is organized by FUTUR Festival Mexico. Proposals will be evaluated by the Creative and Experience team of FUTUR Festival Italia. The composition of the evaluation committee will be announced by the Organizer in due course. Given the collaborative nature of this open call, the decision on the selection of the winning participants shall be final. The benefits and recognition set out in section 8 shall be identical for all selected participants.

3. Eligibility

  • Collectives and artists over 18 years of age, of any nationality, may take part.

The open call is open in nature, so any individual or collective who meets the age requirement set out in the preceding paragraph may take part, without any further restriction.

4. Piece specifications
A 15-second visual piece, video or animation, for a screen 3 meters high by 1 meter wide (768 × 256 px), visible on all four sides. The proposal must be inspired by the creative concept of FUTUR Festival Mexico and comply with the technical specifications shared by the organizing committee. The piece must be exclusively visual, with no audio component.

5. Timeline

  • September 30, 2026 — Open call opens.

  • October 20, 2026 — Open call closes.

  • October 30, 2026 — Results announced.

  • November 14, 2026 — Exhibition during FUTUR Festival Mexico.

6. Required documents

  • Artist or collective bio.

  • Portfolio.

  • Conceptual description of the project.

  • Objectives of the proposal.

  • Moodboard or visual references.

  • Technical sheet.

7. Selection process
Shortlisted projects will move on to a second review stage with the creative committee before final delivery of the piece. The Organizer will not publish any evaluation criteria beyond those set out herein. Selected participants will be announced directly by the Festival through its official channels.

8. Benefits for selected pieces

  • Screening of the piece during FUTUR Festival Mexico 2026, credited with the author's name.

  • Coverage in national and international media, and coverage of the creative process on the Festival's official channels.

  • Certificate of participation.

  • Two VIP Premium passes (flights and accommodation not included).

9. Unpaid participation
Participation in this open call is collaborative and does not include financial compensation for the selected projects. The benefits in section 8 are the only consideration offered.

10. Assignment of rights to the work
The selected works will be exclusive to FUTUR Festival Mexico and will be shown during the 2026 edition. Their authors assign to the Organizer the exhibition and distribution rights to the work for purposes related to promoting the Festival. The selected works may also be distributed through the press, social media and the Festival's other official communication channels, and used in audience interaction and engagement activities, for the purpose of promoting the Festival and the participating artists.

11. Participant representations and warranties
By applying, the participant represents and warrants that: (i) they are the original author of the work or hold all the necessary rights and authorizations over it (including music, samples, typefaces or third-party elements used in the piece); (ii) the work does not infringe copyright, trademark, image rights or any other third-party rights; and (iii) they will hold the Organizer harmless from any third-party claim arising from a breach of this representation.

12. Confidentiality
Taking part implies acceptance of these rules and, where applicable, the signing of the confidentiality agreement that the organizing committee shares with the selected participants.

13. Personal data protection
The personal data and portfolio materials provided in the application will be processed in accordance with the Organizer's Privacy Notice, available at https://www.futurfestival.mx/privacy. The materials and works of participants who are not selected will be deleted from the Organizer's systems once the results of the open call are announced.

14. Disqualification
The Organizer may disqualify, at any stage, any participant who breaches these rules, provides false information or submits a work that infringes third-party rights.

15. Governing law and jurisdiction
This open call is governed by the federal laws of the United Mexican States. For any dispute, the parties submit to the competent courts of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, waiving any other jurisdiction that may correspond to them.
