SPEEDY J

SPEEDY J

Speedy J is the alias of Dutch producer Jochem Paap, whose career since his 1990 debut on Plus 8 has established him as a pioneering force in techno and experimental electronic music. His work moves freely between intricate club productions, ambient compositions and exploratory electronica, with releases on labels including Warp, Planet Mu and FAX +49-69/450464. His extensive catalog also includes collaborations with artists such as Mike Paradinas, Surgeon and Chris Liebing.

Since establishing his Rotterdam-based STOOR studio in 2016, Paap has developed a space dedicated to experimentation, collaboration and long-form live performance. This vision has grown into STOOR Live, bringing together leading electronic artists for improvised sessions recorded and presented from the studio. In 2026, Speedy J returns with Walkman, his first solo album in two decades, drawing on the spirit of the mixtape to create a soundtrack designed for movement.
