Opuntia is the solo project of Mexico City producer and vocalist Camila de Laborde, whose work explores the space between experimental electronics, sophisticated pop and intimate sound design. Using her voice alongside synthesizers, drum machines and analog processing, she creates an organic and dreamlike sound shaped by textures, melodies and constantly shifting forms.
Her debut album, Mercurio, released on Umor Rex in 2024, marked a new chapter in her musical exploration, blending leftfield electronic pop with experimental transitions and a distinctive sense of atmosphere. Her practice also draws from years of experimentation with DIY electronics and circuit bending, while her work with Camila Fuchs has taken her to platforms including MUTEK Mexico and Ars Electronica. As Opuntia, she continues to develop a deeply personal language between electronic music, voice and experimentation.
